Big bright arrival at the new National Cycling Centre

Local company HS Sports supplied and installed the giant new video screen now in place at Manchester's new National Cycling Centre.

The project was part of a £24m revamp of the former Manchester Velodrome, funded by the Council, Northwest Regional Development Agency and Sport England, and with the backing of New East Manchester and British Cycling, who have now made the complex their headquarters.

At the heart of the redevelopment of the facility was one of the world’s largest indoor BMX tracks - occupying 110,000sq ft and with a 2,000 seat spectator capacity - and the screen was first used during the first round of the National BMX series.

The LED screen, which was installed by HS Sports in January, measures 5.6m x 2.8m in size and can be electronically winched up and down as required for servicing. With a resolution of 352 x 176mm, it will be used to broadcast live coverage, replays, results and advertising during events at the centre.
